Dropkick Murphys Rule

Nazis drool.

I reckon there are free speech issues here, but I must admit that I'm having rather a difficult time caring about them...

Fans ought to get ready to rumble if these worthless shits actually do try anything. Which they won't, since they never do unless they are sure to be unopposed.

I went to school with the children of/relatives of Holocaust survivors when I was at the Harvard of the Midwest.

I could not fault them for kicking this guy's ass, hell, as the son of a woman who was held in a concentration camp for 18 months, I'd probably be obliged to join in as the Japanese were willing to be as nasty as the Nazis to any non-Japanese in the cause of their "divine" emperor.

Wow. You've got a more secure platform for judgment here than I do, then, and agreement is reassuring...

I'm still not comfortable with my endorsement of the DMs knocking the crap out of the dude...it's the real test of one's commitment to the First Amendment when one doesn't agree with the speech in question...but damn I'm having a hard time working up any outrage against them...

That's crazy about your Mom, man. The U.S. was really not a particularly awesome place during WWII. I've always thought that, among the Nazis'--and Imperial Japan's--many crimes we have to count this: that we let our past selves off rather easy because we get to compare ourselves to them.

Winston, my mother wasn't a Japanese internee in America, she was an internee in the Chapei Civilian Relocation camp near Shanghai, China.

Just for the record.

Ah, I see.

Wow though.

Encountering people with such real links to things like this gives me this weird kind of vertigo... It's like it's a world away geographically, and a world away in some other sense as well...

I'm a semi-hard-core WWII buff, and I didn't know about that camp. Just looked it up.

Jesus.

Wow man.

I can tell you right now that, had I been in your mom's place, I would not have handled it this well. I'd have been consumed by rage, and I find it hard to believe that I'd be able to keep it from my kids.

That's strength of character right there.
