Overpopulation Watch: The Potash Problem
Dunno whether this is on the right track...I've kind of quit caring. No one is ever going to take overpopulation seriously. We'll just overclock farms until the whole system overheats and there's a catastrophic failure.
Of course we could start being reasonable about reproduction rates while it's still possible...but we won't.

I've seen a presentation showing that increased prosperity has put most of the world's countries well on their way towards first world population structure, with long lifespans, fewer kids, and a stable or declining population. Hopefully these natural demographic shifts combined with a conscious effort to promote birth control and reduce family sizes will be enough to keep us from seeing widespread famine.
