Welcome To The Police State:
Photographing Rogue Cops Edition

This kind of **** has been burning me up for a long time. Since when did it become illegal to photograph cops? Apparently, the state of Maryland thinks it's even illegal to accidentally photograph rogue cops in the act of using excessive force.

What am I missing here?

You're not missing anything. It's just that the thought of being held accountable for their actions is anathema to violent assholes on power trips.

At least one Massachusetts state cop defended his misconduct under color of authority using a wiretap statute, and the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court backed him. It's incredibly wrong.

The cop is one thing. The support he got from his department is another. The secret signature on a search warrant is something else again. I never heard of such a thing.

The judge who threw out the case the next day deserves some props, but somebody needs to dig out the ass that let the cops run wild(er) in the first place.
