Might Palin Start A Third Party?

Don't get excited...I have no information to that effect.

I was just thinking that the GOP establishment is unlikely to accept her as a candidate, and that she might not be willing to play second fiddle again.

And she seems loony/narcissistic enough to do that even if it will clearly split the conservative vote.

A blogger can dream, can't he?

If America wants to elect her president by acclamation, she'll take it. But that ain't gonna happen, so...

She's really not an ideologue or one of those pathological approval-seekers that Mark Steyn wrote about, I don't think.

Me, I think that instead of taking more of the abuse she's been getting, she's just going to cash in. A book deal, $50,000 speaking fees. Sweet.

An entirely sane decision, and wise, if not brilliant. I like people who think outside the box and still find a way to win.

And if she's who she says she is, or at least still is who she was, a family man [person], she got out of the game at just the right time.

If I had to compare politics with any sport, it would be boxing. Get out before it cripples you.

"She coulda been a contender."

In her resignation speech, she had signs of anger and excitement in her performance, this was pointed out to me by my noble spouse, FWIW.

Another analysis here.

Hehe, DA. I certainly wouldn't contend that Sarah Palin coulda been a contender.

She was a bum-of-the-month like the mythical Rocky Balboa. But instead of eventually becoming champ like he did, although Rocky's real-life counterpart Chuck Wepner went a creditable 14 1/2 rounds with Ali [and knocked him down in the 9th!], he was TKOed. And though he hung around the game for awhile, Wepner never got another title shot, and slipped away to obscurity.

Sarah Palin is going to profit during her descent into obscurity a helluva lot more than Chuck Wepner did, but that's fair. He only put his body on the line to get pummeled; she put her entire life, family and personhood on the line, and it was savaged.

And I'd say exactly the same thing about Hillary Clinton, and perhaps someday will, although I hope it's never necessary.

Her family wasn't savaged, her hypocracy in having her daughter and the daughter's boyfriend come to the RNC and the latter get introduced as the daughters' fiancee was savaged, especially as the formers' pregnancy demonstrated the value of the abstinence education for all the world to see.

She had a try at the brass ring and failed, and part of the failure was that she was a lightweight who couldn't tell you what newpapers she read.

She was so incoherent in one interview that it didn't need to be paraphrased, just repeated word-for-word for maximum comic effect.

Her own performance did her in, but
it's nice that you could find the strength to take a shot at Hillary Clinton, to expect you to stay on the subject at hand in a thread would be optimistic at best, unrealistic at worse.

DA, I don't know if you know anything, but Palin was obviously a political GENIUS whose life was BRUTALLY and SAVAGELY RAPED by the libruls.

Her decision to leave office, while perhaps enunciated in a manner that leaves one wondering if she isn't perhaps clinically ill, is pure political brilliance. TVD said it himself.

Your inability to detect the librul media brainwashing you by playing her speeches on TV is a sign of your own incompetence.

Thanks, TM, without your input, I would've been hard pressed to choose between what TVD wrote and what my obviously lying ears heard, now my choice is simple.

Agreed. Never maintained otherwise. But she was slimed, especially after she lost and the jackal pack hounded her all the way home.

Anything but examine the winners' policies.

But I didn't take a shot at Hillary Clinton. In fact, I think she was more unfairly treated than Sarah Palin.

The sliming, FWIW, was done by the members of the McCain staff, and of course the media ran with it, but without them as a "source", there would've been nothing about her to interest the media once she went back to Alaska. The bad mouthing took place not from the Left, but from those who worked with her and had a chance to see her in action up close.

Are you invoking the Hruska defense, that lightweights and mediocrity should have a place in the political system as well?

I can't recall anything I heard about Palin that I'd consider to be "slime".

I'm sure examples can be dug up of outliers in which she was unfairly treated, but the overwhelming majority of the cases against Palin were comprised of nothing more than video of her speaking. She was that bad.

I'm not invoking any defense. I said she's like Chuck Wepner.

Interesting point about the McCainites. You could be right, although I wouldn't say that accounts for all of it.
