Enough With the Wolverine Already
So the CW is fixed: the new Wolverine movie sucks.
Too bad.
Wolverine is an awesomely cool character. But he's also the most over-rated comic character since Superman.
I mean, jeez, people--he's great as one of the cool characters in the X-Men...but it's as if people just can't resist picking out one character from a group or team that they just cannot STFU about.
You know, if your obsession with Wolverine prevents you from recognizing how cool, say, Storm, Cyclops and/or Colossus are, then, well...shut up.
What really sucks is that this weird Wolverine obsession has taken probably the (just by a wee amount) coolest character in all X-dom and made me sick of hearing about him.
I mean, it's not like he's Spiderman, people.

I'm still pissed off over X-Men 3 using Wolverine to usurp one of the cool things about Cyclops, and killing Cyclops off in the bargain.
I mean, really.

Are you following the current comics at all? Uncanny has been pretty good, largely because Wolverine isn't the focus of the current story.
There was just an awesome side story about Colossus uncovering a human trafficking scheme where former mutants (blah, blah, House of M, Decimation) were being sold a la mail-order brides. They've spun the ridiculousness of the Decimation story into a cool thing where the X-Men are now having to defend all the former mutants who are still being persecuted but now have no powers to protect themselves with.
M--
Dude, tell me the hell about it. I basically spent all the rest of X3 waiting for Cyclops to come back. Not even a big death...just...poof...killed off with less panache and fanfare than a redshirt security guard in ST:TOS.
J--
No, I haven't picked up X-men in a long, long time. Perhaps I should remedy that situation...
The current run, by Matt Fraction (my current favourite comics writer), is apparently out in hard cover and trade paperback now. The current story is called "Manifest Destiny" in the hardcover.
I didn't start reading until #500, when Matt Fraction took over, but apparently Ed Brubaker was writing Uncanny before that, and he's another simply fantastic writer, so his issues are probably worth a look as well.
