Do you think there would be any danger of disproportionate retribution (either political or otherwise) from Republicans were the Bush folks actually charged with anything? The rhetoric being thrown about on the right makes me worried that there would be some kind of reprisal were justice actually served.
On the other hand, the fact that these guys are feeling the need to attack the possibility of pressing charges means that they're feeling at least a little worried that it's a possibility. And if they're feeling worried about it, then I'm feeling more hopeful about it.
