Chuck Norris: Moron

I know, I know. It's not like this is a guy anybody should be paying attention to.

But I keep seeing more and more crap like this. It's not like it's just one idiot...it's like a whole idiot movement. Eight years of Bush--quasi-stolen election, shredding of the constitution, destroying of our moral authority, lying us into wars, subordinating policy to politics and science to ideology--and all these dumbshits never said a word...unless, of course, it was to support the guy who was running the country into a ditch.

One month of a smart, honest guy trying to clean things up, and they're talking about revolution and secession.

We are dealing with some very, very stupid people here. And in many cases, stupid = dangerous.

Stupid = Dangerous only when the stupid have power.

It's easy to see these idiots on the boob tube or hear them on the radio as they dig their heels and hide their heads in the sand.

But remember this: An African American man with about as ethnic (maybe "unusual" is more PC)a name you could ask for was voted into office by an overwhelming margin. This country has changed. The demographics are different.

While Walker Texas Ranger and Rush Limbaugh are busy bloviating, Obama is lifting the ban on stem cell research.

Recognize the hard Right's strategy for what it is and always has been: "circle the wagons and appeal to the base." This has been their game since Nixon and it served them well.

Likewise, old habits die hard. Even as Republicans scramble to re-invent themselves (the irony of Mr. Steele, chairman of the GOP and Limbaugh's comments on Powell's endorsement of Obama...which was truly more about race?) In the face of such defeat of course these guys are going to resort to what has always worked for them in the past. Plus, they are damned good at it.

But real thinking conservatives know the party line does not resonate anymore. Let Mr. Norris cling to his guns and religion while fewer Americans identify themselves with any religious belief (courtesy New York Times, 03/10/09).

This is a diverse country growing more diverse by the day. We are also--I think--growing more sensible and sensitive and more humane. The trend of our history shows this. Fear of change and xenophobia's continued relevance in our society shrinks with each passing moment.

Let the minority growl and spit and sweat and get hot with red faces. Then watch them ultimately lose because, in the end, they are WRONG.

And you and I know this.

Something else to be sick about. Somehow I missed it when it was published in February.
