The Political Disregard For Truth
Biden/Palin Debate Edition
And
Yakking Points

Man, one of the most disgusting thing about politics is the rampant, blatant disregard for the truth. If it doesn't make you sick then...well...you're sick.

There's no doubt that both sides have their surrogates fully loaded with talking points, ready to go already. I'm sure Obama/Bidan do it too, but can there be any doubt that the McCain Palin surrogates will be just a little greasier?

In fact, the McCain/Palin TPs should probably be called "yakking points," since they're more automatic and brainless than most...and because they make you want to hurl.

We could write them ahead of time if we wanted.

In fact, we should have a contest--the person who can get the YPs word-for-word wins.

Lessee...

Well, Wolf, tonight Sarah Palin showed why she is America's favorite Governor. She was genuine, warm, genuine, down-to-Earth and genuine.

Well, Wolf it's clear that this is a big win for Governor Palin. She showed that she is the true candidate of change.

Well, Wolf, this was a clear victory for Governor Palin.

Well, Wolf, tonight Sarah Palin put to rest any doubts about her readiness.

Well, Wolf, by my count Governor Palin formulated at least three different grammatical sentences.

These yakking points will, of course, all be yakked regardless of what happens in the debate. The point of such yakking is not to speak the truth--not to accurately tell what has happened--but to effect some change in the future--to make something happen.

They will, as usual, say anything they think will garner additional votes, and they do not care one whit about its truth.

It's a genuinely nauseating display, regardless of which side it comes from. It's amazing to me that people don't get mad about it.
