I Am Not Making This Up, 1/9/2007 Edition: Hannity's "Enemies of the State"

At TPM.

Is it just me, or are they not even trying to conceal the fact that they're nuts anymore?

Hannity should continue to stand up in front of "Enemy of the State" on a frequent basis, even if "Enemy of the Society" would be more to the point.

Giving aid and comfort to America's enemies well qualifies Sean Penn for the honor. Regardless of one's opinion on the decision to topple Saddam, it cannot be denied he was America's enemy by his own account, and neither can it be denied that Penn allowed himself to be turned into a useful idiot by Saddam, by Penn's own account.

As for the article urging us to "forget" Keith Olbermann's "Worst Person in the World" feature, I don't see why we should. Whatever Olbermann makes up in hip glibness over Hannity, he loses in sincerity and appreciation for the graveness of the challenges of our age.

That said, we should not confuse the toy department of infotainment for reality. I'm far more concerned at the incoherence of Ted Kennedy, who as a result of the last election, is actually in the position of governing this country. That's reality, and a grim one.

Yes, Teddy Kennedy is certainly incoherent compared to the paragons of coherence we've had governing this country the last few years.

In an interview, Penn conceded that he had been a bad, bad (although useful) idiot:
"You know, I realized how wrong I had been when they found all those WMDs. Boy, did I have egg on my face! Well, I guess Hannity is right -- I really am an Enemy of the State. When's my show trial?"
