FEMA Directors, Competent and Otherwise: A Wee History

In keeping with my new policy of not writing posts, but just linking to Kevin Drum, instead of writing something of my own I'd like to link to this post by...well, you get the picture...

As I've argued in the past, most of us don't know enough about FEMA and disaster management to tell how good/bad FEMA is under W. I've also been wondering how bad Brownie really is compared to other FEMA directors. Turns out, the chronology looks like this: under Bush '41: incompetent cronies; under Clinton: James Lee Witt, competent; under Bush '43: incompetent cronies.

There seems to be a pattern of some kind there, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Just as an aside, isn't what Kevin came up with what anyone - any blogger or commenter - could have easily come up with?

Just wondering why the deference to Kevin's authority when - you know - he's really just a tech writer turned professional blogger...

Yeah, A, anybody could have done it, but Drum DID IT.

And he's not shrill like lefty Matthew "Shrilly" Christman the unreasonably shrill. Shrill, shrill, shrill ha ha ha!
