   The far left began its most recent major assault on the country and the culture ca. 2013, and the Democrats capitulated to them ca. 2017. Contemporary Dems have adopted all the left's Woketarian lunacy up to and including race hysteria and gender pseudoscience...
   There's no "pivot" here. They're already largely far-leftists. You can't pivot on open borders / abolishing ICE when you've been pushing that bullshit for years. (Actually, in the case of open borders, the Dems have been edging closer and closer to that for decades.)
   Oddly, the economic radicalization of the Democrats has lagged behind their social radicalization. Socialism is radical enough...but it's far, far less radical than, say, Only whites can be racist and Women have penises... So I'd have expected this hard left turn on economics before the hard left turn on social issues... 

   But, anyway. If this is any kind of a pivot, it's just an economic one. It's just bringing their economic views into the vicinity of their already-radical social views.

   I doubt rank-and-file Democrats will go socialist...but...I said they absolutely positively would not go hard-left PC/Woketarian...and you see how wrong I was about that... It's still hard to believe that individual Dems actually believe the insane shit the party collectively accepts...but here we are. I don't generally talk to most of my friends and acquaintances about such issues, but I do know people (some are good friends) who sincerely believe that some women are male. And I know others who categorically deny that anyone believes that--though they think we are morally obligated to speak as if it's true...

   Anyway. If you'd have asked me 15 years ago whether the Democrats were more likely to (a) take a socialist turn or (b) come to believe that women have penises and all the rest of the Woke lunacy...I'd absolutely have picked (a)...

   So, anyway...I doubt the Dems will go socialist...but they're already a bit wobbly on it...and given the madness that has gripped the party, it's certainly not impossible.
