Nate the Lawer: DC Officials Caught Faking Crime Stats to Hide Police Defunding Disaster

The left was ranting and raving about low crime rates in D.C. and blah blah Trump was nuts and martial law and blah blah blah. People not locked up in the left's echo chamber were mostly saying that they were skeptical about the data--but most weren't outright denying its accuracy. Many people were saying basically Look, this just doesn't comport with our experience. There's crime everywhere and we don't feel safe. This is to their credit. And this is par for the course for the last decade. The left passionately embraces the leftist "narrative"...even when it seems utterly cracked. Sane people, unfortunately, are still hesitant to just reject the left's bullshit...and so are more circumspect.

   No.

   Just reject it.

   By this point it's clear that they are basically either lying or delusional about everything...

   If by some chance they turn out to be right about something you can always go back and admit error.

   But, look: by this point, the safe bet about anything they say is: they're crazy / lying.

   Once again, the left's ideologically-driven story turns out to be false--and obviously so. But the lefty Powers That Be, combined with the quasi-religious True Believers in the lefty herd...just installed an official myth that propped up their preferred worldview...and, of course, entailed that Orange Man Bad....

   But it did its job: it got them over the hump when exposure could have been genuinely politically harmful. Sure, epistemically this is much worse, and it reveals, yet again, their Orwellian lunacy...but nobody cares about that. It's a price they're obviously willing to pay...
