The left has two related commitments:

(i) Do not prosecute violent criminals

(ii) Make it costly/difficult/impossible for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves.

Look: lock 'em up, or leave 'em to us.

But we cannot allow the government to do both (i) and (ii).
