The Deep Academy: John Murawski, "Is DEI Really in Decline?"

So far as I can tell: yes, but unevenly.
My own university's modest retreat seemed borderline pro forma to me.
The Virginia Association of Scholars' report found dozens of people filling DEI jobs--full time or part-time). The university seems to have identified four people in DEI positions. One (the most senior and well-compensated) was moved to a different job in the university. On person, I'm told, retired. One was fired. I can't remember what happened to the fourth.
Now, this happened after Youngkin and Trump...but now we have Spanberger. Who has appointed a real kook as the Commonwealth's "diversity czar" or whatever it's called... So who knows?
They won't risk money. So if Trump makes good on that, I can't see us courting his ire. We're not on the cutting edge of wokeness, anyway. We're low enough on the academic totem pole WARNING RACIST ANALOGY! WARNING RACIST ANALOGY! that we'll do some things on the DL and wait for UVA, W&M, Tech, and Mason to take the lead.
