Peggy Noonan: The Embarrassing Pete Hegseth

Things have to get pretty bad before I agree with Peggy Noonan...but here we are...

 I've read accounts of both Hegseth and Trump's comments, and seen clips from both. But I haven't worked up the nerve to watch either in its entirety.

Embarrassing is accurate.

I'd also have accepted: cringe.

We seem to be stuck between the batshit crazy Democrats who want generals in dresses and social justice recruiting campaigns--Juanita Has Two Moms, or Furry Fridays in the Fleet and whatnot--and...whatever the hell it is we have now.

Calling all the big brass from all across the globe together was one thing...but then prancing and preening back and forth across a stage, like Temu Patton, berating them for being fat...and broadcasting it all... What. the. fuck. was that all about?

I mean, I stick to my previous thought on the matter: don't ask me, ask people who are or have been in uniform... But I'm not even so much complaining about the message here as I am about the flamboyant, prancing, "performative" way in which it was delivered.

Again: W. T. F.?

Trump, as usual, should have just kept his mouth shut.

Oh and: he shouldn't have picked a SECDEF...oh...sorry...I guess it's SECWAR now...on the basis of his hair. And having been a talking head on Fox News.

Look...how do you make the Democrats' wacky lefty moonbattery seem almost normal? Well you can't, you might have said...

Well, I give you Pete Hegseth strutting and capering about on the stage.

And don't forget the word from his sponsor--he dropped a wee ad for his book right in the middle...

Trump keeps on making good moves to repair the damage the left has inflicted on the country over the last decade. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for that, and I realize that we were uncomfortably close to having a Harris/Walz administration. Which would have been an abject catastrophe.

BUT

Why can't these people act just a little bit more normal?
