   You can't pick out one mental illness and ignore other, equally dangerous ones.

   And not all transgenderism is (based in) mental illness. In some cases it's a sexual fetish (and not all sexual fetishes count as mental illnesses...uh...right?), in some cases it's grounded in or constituted by one or more false beliefs, sometimes it's the result of indoctrination and/or peer pressure, in some cases it's based on political commitments, in other cases it's just a way to get attention.

   Anyway, I just don't see how this could be a defensible policy.

   A fairly typical Trumpian overreaction/misfire.
