Robert Kagan's TDS

Wow
This thing just goes on and on and on. It's a brain dump of TDS items. Kagan's seen better days.
Look: it's not that every concern he has about Trump is entirely groundless. In fact, there are substantial grains--or pebbles--or quasi-boulders--of truth in there. Trump does seem to have a certain demagogic potential. And there really are people on the right who just will not tolerate a bad word about him--I used to deny that, but I've seen their comments of late. Of course there's nothing unusual about that. There are Dems to this day who won't hear a bad word about Obama. And there was definitely a cult of Obama.
For the zillionth time: it's not that I deny that Trump has bad characteristics. It's that people like Kagan spin them out of proportion, refuse to acknowledge his good characteristics and even better policies, and pretend that all his supporters are crazy or stupid or evil. And, most of all: they can't or won't see that the Democrat party has capitulated to an insane progressive left that actually has the potential to destroy the country. Trump's basically the least of our problems.
But perhaps my favorite part of the essay is the bit where Kagan claims that the left's attitude toward the right is "subtle condescension"--whereas the right is plagued by "resentment."
Of course in actual fact, there is nothing even vaguely subtle about the left's condescension. It is, in fact, outright contempt, and it pours forth from every institution. We are clingy deplorables as you may recall... I'd say a certain amount of resentment is permissible under such circumstances.
