The Right-Wing Anti-Liberal Backlash Against Left-Wing Academic Anti-Liberalism Has Begun
Given limited resources, it's probably not currently worth spending them fretting too much about this bullshit from the right...but it seems approximately equally cracked. It'll never pass and the courts would destroy it even if it did...but it could turn into a problem at some point. Obviously the solution to illiberal leftist crackpottery is not illiberal right-wing crackpottery. Nobody should be encouraging their students to believe CRT and the rest of the dreck the left is currently pushing--though we know they are. Teaching it is fine--but that's supposed to mean: teaching about it--not preaching it. That is: teach what it says, and look at arguments for and against it. Of course that's not what happens. I guarantee you that most people pushing the left's postpostmodern mishmash don't really understand what they're talking about. I doubt that 10% even know what the views' major weaknesses are. Contra Sachs, there is, so far as I can tell, a shit-ton of brainwashing going on at universities. I'll be happy if I'm wrong. Sadly, there is at least some evidence to suggest that the only reason that there isn't a lot going on (if there isn't) is that professors' (and administrators') efforts to perpetrate it fail. So: the good news is that there may not be a lot of (successful) indoctrination going on; the bad news is: that's because students don't pay attention to their professors.
