Election Outlook Gets Darker

RCP betting odds crash down to 60-40.
It ain't over, of course--not by a long shot. But the thought of 4 (probably not 8) years of (possibly complete) Democratic control given the current unhinged state of the Democratic party... I despair when I think about the amount of damage that will be done. Trump's EO on critical race superstition indoctrination will be rescinded...Beto will engage his fetish for gun confiscation...climate-change hysteria will once again be the order of the day...
Ugh. Trump, for all his obvious, anti-presidential flaws, has actually been changing our trajectory in astonishingly positive ways. I was absolutely, 100% wrong about him in this respect. There is a real chance for the country to take a massive leap in the right direction...if Trump can pull out of this nosedive.
Of course there's all the uncivil, unpresidential, norm-breaking stuff...which matters, IMO. It really, really does. So at least we'd be free of that--an advantage not to be dismissed lightly.
Thing is, even just in this narrow respect, Trump is superior to the Dems. They've broken more important norms, and are even less civil than Trump. Trump's contemptuous insults directed at his enemies is far, far, far less harmful than progressives/Democrats' ceaseless accusations of racism against anyone with whom they disagree. They really have become cult-like, as their shrill insistence that Trump repeatedly "disavow" "white supremacists" shows. He couldn't be any clearer--but they will never take no for an answer. It's an axiom to them that their enemies are racists. Trump's incivility hasn't resulted in riots and murder and arson--progressive race hysteria has
If the facts about the main crises of the day could break through the media/groupthink forcefield that protects progressive fantasyland, Trump would win handily. If people knew even a little bit about Russiagate, Russiagategate, BLM, critical race theory indoctrination, the politicization of schools and universities...we'd face a very different political landscape. But we've slipped down a dark timeline in which a leftist version of the religious right has ascended to cultural dominance.
I sympathize with people who are revolted by some of Trump's utterances. I absolutely do. But in objective...yet, paradoxically, metaphorical...terms, we are standing on the brink of a precipice. These are not the Democrats of old. They're barely even Democrats at all anymore--or so it seems. Maybe the rank-and-file actually do remain relative centrists...but if so, they've given us no sign of it.
Whelp it ain't over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
   Give. Volunteer. Vote.
And remember: a whole lot of anti-Trump folks aren't cultists. They're good people who can be reasoned with. So get out there and reason with them.
