The Leftist Purging Of Thoughtcrime From Academia Picks Up Speed

So obviously I've been running around with my hair on fire about this stuff for however many years now... My entire life, really...except for an interim during which I stupidly thought we'd beaten the Orwellian left. 

   Not to crow or scold, but most of the people I've discussed this stuff with have pretty consistently poo-pooed my concerns, made excuses for the progressive left, fallen back on the old yeah-but-the-right-is-worse gambit... Then there's the oh-it's-just-on-campus response...as if universities don't count. And as if they have no influence on the rest of society. Just universities! Also just the news media. Also just publishing. Also just Hollywood and the rest of popular culture. Also just big tech. Also just all the rest of the influential parts of the entire culture, too... So don't worry!

   Boy do I ever hate being right all the damn time.

   If you think this is guaranteed to blow over, I wish you'd tell me how you know that. Because I don't see appreciable evidence of it. Sure, it's gone batshit crazy and could implode next week...but it's also become so powerful that it probably won't. And it's very unlikely to all go away. What if only 10% of this insanity sticks? What if only 5% does? That still leaves rationalism and American liberalism (both in the in the broad sense) grievously wounded. 

   We've already reached this point: even mild criticism of progressitarianism is likely to bring the shrieking, lunatic mob down on you. It can lose you your job, destroy your reputation, your business and your life. Disagreement with the Maoist cult is verboten...to mix up about three different kinds of references. 

   If the extremist right--which is probably less violent, but more deadly, but less mind-control-y--were doing 10% of what the extremist left is now doing, the media and academia and everybody else with a microphone (megaphone?) would be losing its/their freaking minds. But they're in cahoots with the lunatic left...so we're left watching the various mobs mob the country, tear down monuments, burn down buildings, take over whole parts of cities*...while the media et al. tell us that it's all really quite peaceful and fine and this is how America gets better! This apparently meaning: start with a collection of progressive myths that are easily shown to be false, add violence and the elimination of all dissent, gut the Bill of Rights...?...profit!

   Leiter saying that the military should depose Trump...that barely registers given the other madness. And Leiter is on the less crazy side of philosophy... 

*Did the PMSM ever get around to mentioning that Pantyfa has, in some sense at least, taken over part of Seattle? Because apparently--as with so many other things that might make people think less of progressitarianism--they just weren't mentioning it.
