More On The Latest False Accusation Of Racism Against Trump

The Federalist--the voice of sweet reason--is on it.
The scary thing is that this is only partly a nefarious rhetorical tactic--these people, to at least a large extent, actually believe this stuff.
Listening to them really is like listening to certain Christians talk about sin and Satan. They really think they're seeing it.
They can't really be this nutty, though. I suspect what's going on is that they already fervently believe Trump is a racist, so they then read that into new situations. That's yet another reason why the nonsense about "all Mexicans are rapists" and "Nazis are very fine people" shouldn't have been allowed to pass, but should have been relentlessly ground into the dirt. People let themselves believe that stuff, and then they kind of bootstrapped their way up to...well...where they are now. They've talked themselves into believing that, basically, even saying that this virus that originated in China originated in China...or even criticizing the murderous, totalitarian CCP, gets counted as "racism." (Somewhere I saw 'Chicom'  described as "a racial slur" if you can believe that.)
This has all gotten downright creepy. We're watching a group of people go collectively madder and madder more-or-less right before our eyes. They already almost couldn't admit that Russiagate was a hoax...in fact, they largely haven't admitted it. What if Russiagategate goes against them as profoundly as it looks like it will. Will they blow a gasket or something? Look at the things they're saying and doing already. Honestly, I'm a bit worried that they might completely lose it. They don't have a whole lot of it left.
There must be some kind of social psychology on this. This isn't a whole bunch of people just randomly going nuts at the same time. There's something real at work here--ideas with real motivational force, plus groupthink, plus tribalism, plus something quasi-religious... I don't think I've ever seen this kind of mass hysteria operating so vividly before. There was an element of this in the lead-up to Gulf War Episode II...maybe I just don't remember it clearly enough.
