U.S. Case Fatality Rate For COVID-19 Still Comparatively Low

So this is, it seems to me, arguably the most important measure of the pandemic and our national response. Yet it's rarely mentioned by the media. They--rightly--praise the RoK. But they don't mention that our rate is near theirs. They compare COVID-19's case fatality rate to that of the flu...in order to show that the former is worse. So they know about such rates. But seem only to report them when they're part of a case for pessimism.
Honestly, I'm so disgusted with the progressive-media complex that I don't much trust my own judgments...but this is fairly clear evidence of a bias--intentional or unintentional--in favor of a pessimistic view of the pandemic and our response thereto. The most likely explanation for this bias, I suppose, is a prior bias against Trump.
There's enough genuine reason for pessimism in the absolute numbers of deaths. Why leave out this important information that gives us some objective reason to take a positive view of our national response?
Well, again: I suspect we have a good guess about the reason.
