NYT Editors On COVID-19: Orange Man Bad; or: Why The MSM Can't Be Trusted

Orange Man Bad, as goes without saying.
Most of the editorial could be right, for all I know. But, unlike the me of five years ago, I now know that I can't trust what the NYT (and the rest of the MSM) says about it. Or anything else that impinges on progressive political interests. Did Trump cut the relevant funding? I don't know. I'd have to check to make sure. He may have not actually cut it. Or may have cut it for good reasons. Or may have cut funding in one area and increased it in another. Or it may not really have been him at all, but Obama or the House. The point is: the leftist MSM isn't really a source of information about such things anymore. It's more like a source of suggestions. They all have to be checked.
Consider just the most overtly stupid, biased, partisan thing in the post:
Forget isolationism. One thing the current moment shows is the folly of presuming that viruses will respect borders — that they can be kept out by walls or wrangled into submission with good intentions. They cannot. Restricting and rescinding foreign health and development aid, pulling global health workers from outbreak zones abroad and undermining health care at home makes Americans more vulnerable to threats like Covid-19.
The best strategy for thwarting this epidemic, and for preventing the next, is to help other nations — wherever they are — fight humanity’s common enemy over there before we have to fight it over here. [Emphasis in original]
LOL. "they cannot be kept out by walls." Bullshit. Or, rather: straw man + bullshit. Border barriers aren't intended for that specific purpose...so even if they had no effect on it, that's no argument against them. But also: they absolutely can have an effect on the spread of viruses--in some cases, undoubtedly, a profound one. Can they stop them? Maybe--but, again: straw man. If you mean: can they completely stop them...probably not ordinarily. Neither can vaccines. So: vaccines can't stop them? Would the NYT print that? There are few 100% cures in the world. What a tangle of sophistry.
Also: remember Trump's racist, xenophobic travel ban? Turns out he was right. But orange man bad...and facts can't be allowed to undermine religious doctrine. So no mention of it.
I'm fully willing to accept that Trump's doing a bad job on this. But when the MSM shrieks that he'd doing the worst possible job on everything, even when he clearly isn't...well...you know where this is going. The right-wing media, biased as it can be, is a better source of information than the left-wing MSM now, perhaps largely just because the left has shifted so far left. Also: TDS. Extremism, dogmatism and stupidity basically go hand in hand in hand. The right-wing media is more trustworthy largely just in virtue of being less extreme and dogmatic. Still: this would all be a lot easier if we had more genuinely objective sources of actual information.
