The PC Left Is Averse To Facts: Definition of 'Woman' Edition
The PC left is divorced from the facts in innumerable ways. Contemporary progressives exist in a web of myths sustained by groupthink, political correctness, and fear of heterodoxy and "shaming." The left's transgender madness is only the most obvious of many cases. You know what a woman is. I know what a woman is. The only people who don't know what a woman is--or who pretend not to know--are those indoctrinated by the PC left:
And even most of them engage in doublethink: they sort of believe it in a way because they are terrified not to...but, of course, mostly they know better. If their lives suddenly depnded on getting the answer right, they'd remember what was what with alacrity.
Conservatives have their innumerable bits of nuttiness, some of them significant and dangerous. And, of course, there's the religious right. But conservatives have no bit of orthodoxy that requires them to look right straight at the day and call it night. Some on the right are willing to affirm some pretty daft things, especially in the name of religion. But those things are all supposed to be dim and distant, and mostly fuzzed up by being, allegedly, shrouded in mystery and antiquity. Besides, let's say they're equally daft: neither of them should be in power. Thing is, the religious right doesn't control the culture.
Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2=4. If that isn't permitted, full-on totalitarianism follows. If the NPCs are willing to look right at Caitlyn (nee Bruce) Jenner and swear that he's a woman, what do you think their ideology can get them to believe about more complicated and ambiguous matters? If your politics can brainwash you into believing that patently obvious falsehoods are true, then it can brainwash you into believing just about anything when a bit of uncertainty is added. Much of leftism's power comes from its ability to disable its adherents' bullshit detectors. In this sense, it's basically indistinguishable from a religion. But unlike any religion, the PC left is adored by those who control all the levers of cultural authority.
OH, TO BE IN ENGLAND: BBC Segment on the Definition of ‘Woman:’ “So, there we go. Jo Swinson, the leader of the third-largest political party in the United Kingdom, does not know what a woman is, and has promised complete reform of the Gender Recognition Act, which she does not understand the consequences of.”
