Has California Become The Far Left Coast?

Kinda seems that way.
They do have the most people on welfare...but how much does that have to do with them having a more expansive conception of who's eligible? (I don't know the answer.) They've got the largest population of illegal aliens...but, then, they're a large state on the border. But you can only make so many excuses.
I'm inclined to think that the states should be the laboratories of democracy. I'm glad that CA is doing its thing...as long as the price for that isn't too high...and as long as we'll actually heed the results. Thus far, I have to say that I'm among those who view the experiment as largely a failure...but, then, I don't know enough even to assess it properly. That requires expertise that most of us don't have. But anyway: let a hundred flowers bloom...or, well, fifty, anyway. Then let's see what works and what doesn't.

California has “the most people” on welfare bc it has the largest population. Per capita numbers tell a different story - is the writer statistically illiterate or trying to mislead?

Unless California has 1/3 of the U.S. population that explanation isn't going to cut it.

Turns out CA has 12% of the population and about 1/3 of the welfare cases.
