Terrible, terrible lede. "Divisive issues such as clhealth care and climate change" is a tell: those issues are "divisive" only insofar as right wing Republicans disagree on them. Yes, there are policy disagreements around them on the left (and here I very much include center left.) But saying these are divisive *as topics* is just not a useful way to start an article on how to move to the center. These are core issues.
