If You're An Academician, Write Portland State About Their Politically-Motivated Retribution Against Peter Boghossian
Honestly, does any doubt remain that the PC / "social justice" left basically controls academia?
Imagine a hand palming a human face forever

I don't think there's any doubt about that, but I'm not sure this is evidence of it, at least not without seeing what, if any, sanctions come down. I knew next to nothing about IRBs before I got involved with a program that requires an undergraduate thesis. I now have way more experience with the IRB than I want. The process is often annoying and ridiculous. But it's pretty clear that if you are doing any research that you even think might involve human subjects, you go to the IRB. They'll tell you if you don't need their approval. From everything I know, it seems pretty clear that Boghossian, et al. should have gone through IRB. It might be that IRBs are out of control, and have expanded their scope too widely. But given the current setup, what PSU is doing and saying doesn't seem out of bounds or obviously politically motivated...yet.
I'll take your word for it...I'd actually wondered about that but shoved the doubts aside. I've only had one project have to go through the IRB, but it was a ridiculous pain in the ass.
Of course I suspect that if they *had* done it, somebody would have tipped off the marks...
But, anyway, I hereby resolve to wait and see.
