Crawford was tortured to death by the Seneca-Cayuga, incidentally. It seems like that should matter...in addition to the fact that he died 78 years before the start of the Civil War.
I suppose it might conceivably have something to do with his role in the French and Indian War...but I doubt it. I expect his statue just "looked old."
