"The Trump Dossier, Or How Russia Helped America Break Itself"
By Mark Galeotti.
Lorenzo linked to this in comments. I've only just started to read it, and it's exciting and horrifying--exciting because it really does seem to be coming form a much deeper understanding of Russia. Horrifying--aside from the obvious--because, if right, it means that much of the discussion of this on the left really is more than a little bit hysterical/delusional.

If there were any evidence that Trump was taking accusations against Russia seriously, I'd agree more with his conclusion. Instead, I regularly see certain right wingers claim that RT is more reliable than the "main stream media," with the sometimes active support of the administration. "Fake News!" they say. "400 pound guy in the basement" they say.
The administration seems to be doing everything it can to stoke the "firestorm" in Washington. And they keep refusing to dissociate themselves from people complicit with Russia.
No I am totally with you on that, and find it hard to understand any other view.
(How is it that 'no' means *yes* in contexts like that?)
I mean...if you don't want us all thinking that you're in cahoots with the rooskies...HOW ABOUT YOU DON'T GODDAMN ACT EXACTLY LIKE SOMEONE WOULD GODDAMN ACT IF THEY WERE GODDAMN IN CAHOOTS WITH THE GODDAMN ROOSKIES?????????
I MEAN SERIOUSLY.
Ahem.
Oh yeah. This issue tended to get lost in Galeotti's analysis.
Oh. My. God.
