Trump Widens Lead

link
When Bush (ultimately '43) was gaining ground in the run-up to 2000, I was all like "Z0MG this is so great he absolutely cannot win the general!!!!1".
So yeah, I learned my lesson there.
Nobody is too stupid nor loathsome nor unqualified to win.
So I'll admit, I'm torn among shadenfreude, sorrow, revulsion, bafflement and concern.
If anybody can help me narrow the field down to two or three of these, please let me know.

The thing about Bush was that he was fairly well controlled by his handlers and was coming off of a fairly successful run as Governor of Texas (thanks in no small part to Bob Bolluck (sic), a very powerful democratic Lieutenant Governor who knew when it was time to cut deals). At least that's my reading of that time, FWIW.

Trump has none of that so...gahhh. As bad as Bush '43 was Trump...gah, revulsion is on the top of my list, sorrow and concern next on the list but perhaps I'm too jaded at this point to be baffled.

One of the most terrifying facts of modern American life is that no matter who gets the Republican nomination, they will have, at minimum, a 40% chance (or better!) of becoming President.

And don't forget: we're then likely to have GOP control of the presidency + both houses of Congress.
