I've gotta say, context matters here. While the first article has a point, it is completely lost in the buckets of bullshit that the second describes. Gamergate started out as revenge from an Ex. The result is predictable.
If you want to complain about corruption in videogame journals, go ahead. But don't call it gamergate. And don't try to convince me it's a big proble lm compared to, say, internet trolls who threaten to rape women.
From what I've read, this is definitely not a "both sides have good points!" debate. See, for example,
