Schools Push Propaganda: In Which I Agree With...George F. Will

Sigh.

I think he's right.

There I said it.

I'll be in my room.

Jeez, I dunno. It certainly seems thinly sourced, and is denied by all the folks involved.

I mean, yes, it's "troubling, if true," but what isn't?

On a related topic, Neil Gross just came out with what promises to be a fascinating book, Why Are Professors Liberal and Why Do Conservatives Care?, digging into the 'college liberal indoctrination' idea. I've not read it, but from everything I've read about it, I apparently ought to.

M,

Did they deny it? Derp. I didn't check.

Well, that's very good news.

I'm basically agreeing because what Will writes coheres with my own concerns about the university. I think that this is the very last place in the world that brainwashing ought to be tolerated. But it seems to me to be more than tolerated.

Back in the '90's, the PCs were shrieky students and faculty. We beat 'em back, but a button-down, bureaucratic, soft-tyrannical version of the views just got absorbed and institutionalized by administrators...or so I worry.

Even if the goal is generally good--and I think it generally is--it's the brainwashy aspect of the thing that worries me.

Still, I'm pretty alarmist about such things. So/and I hope I'm wrong.

Let me know whether that Gross book is good. I've been eyeing it. And lemme know if you've got good links refuting the Will stuff!
