New Pacific Rim Trailer

It is with great sadness that I predict this movie will suck.
What we really need is a really dark, rainy, awesome semi-Cthulhu-esque giant-monsters-from-the-Pacific story...without the giant combots.
Or, actually, see, the first movie should be the the Alien analog...a horror movie where mere survival is the goal. Then comes the we-strike-back shoot-'em-up monster movie with the giant 'bots, i.e. the Aliens analog...
The monster scenes look great, but the human clips don't inspire confidence.
I really hope GdT can pull this one off, but I'm not optimistic. Yet I will be there as soon as this mofo comes out.

Del Toro was making a film adaptation of In the Mountains of Madness, but the studio pulled the plug due to the price tag. So he said "what if I add giant robots" and they were like "Sold!"
I'm not a huge del Toro fan, but I think this is going to be great. There has not been a single great giant monster blockbuster in the CGI era. Let's rumble!
Ugh, yeah, I had heard that story, though I also heard that it had something or other to do with Prometheus or something...
Actually, I agree about del Toro...I started thinking back over his movies...he did Hellboy 2, right? Not good.
Anyway: I hope you're right, man...I'd dearly love for this to be good.
