Utterly shocking, I agree. You and your partner must remember to carry copies of your POA with you at all times to avoid bureaucratic tangles that make a crisis even worse. Unfortunately, I think that the most gay-friendly states are in poor economic condition. And there is always the problem of 2 men both having to find jobs.
