Vatican Condemns Halloween as Anti-Christian

Because fake zombies are more dangerous than actual pedophilia.

I must say this seems a bit cheap Winston. Benedict has expressed a great deal more (clearly unfeigned) horror at priestly paedophilia than the Vatican has expressed about Halloween.

This is not to deny that many in the Catholic church were complicit or in denial about paedophilia, but still...

If Pope Panzerfaust sent back Cardinal Bernard Law to face the music in Boston, you might have a point, Jimmy D.

LOOL Pope Panzerfaust

But I have to admit, I can't say Jimmy's wrong. I don't really know what Mr. Ratzinger has done about priestly pediphiliacs. I have little to on on other than a vague impression that not enough is being done.

So I guess I really ought to shut up and read something about it.

Well, I guess I've got a bit of a bee in my bonnet because I'm seeing more and more hateful, bigoted anti-Catholic articles in the "progressive" UK press blithely recycling blatant lies which have now been repeated so often they are becoming articles of faith, eg the Church collaborated with the Nazis, Benedict was a Nazi, Benedict is almost singlehandedly responsible for AIDS in Africa and, of course, Benedict tried to cover up priestly paedophilia; eg:

I couldn't care less what the British press has to say about the Mother Church, there's enough dirt on this side of the pond, albeit predating the current Papacy:

The U.S. attorney in Los Angeles has launched a federal grand jury investigation into Cardinal Roger M. Mahony in connection with his response to the alleged molestation of children by priests in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, according to two law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

The probe, in which U.S. Atty. Thomas P. O’Brien is personally involved, is aimed at determining whether Mahony, and possibly other church leaders, committed “honest services fraud” by failing to adequately deal with priests accused of sexually abusing children, said the sources, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation.

One federal law enforcement source said such a prosecution could be brought under a federal statute that makes it illegal to “scheme ... to deprive another of the intangible right of honest services.” In this case, the victims would be parishioners who relied on Mahony and other church leaders to keep their children safe from predatory priests, the source said.
