Annoying Words
"Going Forward" Edition

Hey, it turns out that if you're still using the phrase "going forward," you are not getting the maximum amount of annoying bang for your linguistic buck. Turns out that folks who are really up on their mindless bizspeak prefer:

On a going-forward basis

or my personal favorite:

On the go-forward

(Note: hyphen placement largely speculative.)

The mind, she reeleth. Not to mention the poor ear...

I recently began a book-on-cd, "When will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops" by George Carlin-which you may find interesting. Carlin has some interesting comments about the English language, especially with regards to euphemisms and political correctness.
