The New Dumbest Thing Ever Written:
"Girls At University"
or: Why Stupid, Icky Girls Don't Need No Edjimication

By
Bishop Richard "All Them Jews Committed Suicide" Williamson
The Vatican's Favorite Holocaust Denier

Yes, possibly the very stupidest thing ever written. Check it out if you don't believe me. [via Metafilter]

Some of my favorite highlights:
"...because of all kinds of natural reasons, almost no girl should go to any university!"
All kinds of natural reasons, mind you!

"The deep-down reason is the same as for the wrongness of women's trousers: the unwomaning of woman."

(Warning! Warning! Self parody alert!!!)
"That girls should not be in universities flows from the nature of universities and from the nature of girls: true universities are for ideas, ideas are not for true girls, so true universities are not for true girls."
Ah, true universities and true girls...what about, say, true Scotsmen? Where do they fit into all of this?
"Survey the waste on any "university" campus today - feckless unmen and trashy unwomen whose noblest activity is throwing frisbees at one another!"
Well, that's bordering on fair actually...
"Such "universities" dedicated to the defiance of God and Nature, make mincemeat of the youngsters' Faith (if they had any), of their morals and of their common sense."
He's got a wee point there, too. There does seem to be a certain cynical, negative, "debunking" style to a great deal of university education...
His mind is designed not to be swayed by feelings but on the contrary to control them, so that while his feelings may be inferior to hers, his reason is superior. And reason being meant to rule in rational beings, then he is natured to rule over her (Gen. III, 16), as can be seen for example whenever she needs to resort to him for her feelings not to get out of control.
Hear that, girls? Our reason is superior. Yay our reason! You are meant to be ruled by us. We rule! We rule you! Even girls who are smarter than boys are meant to be ruled by boys because boys (or: true boys) are reasonally superior to mere girls (or: true girls). QED.

Mr. Williamson's reasoning here should clearly demonstrate to you the vast superiority of male reason to your puny helping of reason given to you by the just and wise reason-giving God who hates you. And if you don't understand that Williamson's arguments, though seemingly cobbled together by some asshat without two neurons to rub together, are actually sound, well, that just shows how pathetic your reason is, now doesn't it?
"Woman's thinking is subjective, inward, intuitive, concrete, small-scale, with a gift for loving details. University thinking needs to be objective, outward, rational, abstract, large-scale, with a drive towards the grand principles. Her thinking follows her heart. University thinking can only follow the head."
Actually, this sounds a lot like many contemporary radical feminists and feminist epistemologists. Really. So in a way, Mr. Williamson is on the cutting edge of Po-Mo-y scholarship here. Is there some kind of principle that explains the convergence of craziness?

Well, there's also some awesome stuff about why the Catholic church "
alone can create true universities, directing all study ultimately to the glory of God and the salvation of souls." ("true" universities, mind you. Not, y'know, regular ones. Mr. Williamson likes his 'true's.) But we can only take so much awesome nowlidge in one day, right? Especially you girls out there who are probably getting all confused and emotional by this point, wondering "where is my manly husband who can come and explain all this to me, or, rather, calm me down and help to conquer this unwomanly desire to understand?" Well, if you hadn't spent so much time reading Plato and playing frisbee and f*cking, you wouldn't be in this pickle, now would you? So it's not like we can feel sorry for you. If you'd have been having babies like you were supposed to, everything would be fine.

It'd be fun to go through and demolish Mr. Williamson's silly screed line by line, but I've got actual things to do, and I'm trying to waste less of my time refuting patent g*ddamn idiots. So I'm going to stick with this drive-by ridicule and go spend my time on something more important.

Peace out, feckless unmen and trashy unwomen.

Next week: all kinds of natural reasons why true people should not truly believe in the true Holocaust...

I haven't been to Mass in almost a year due to this sort of crap, its not just confined to one or two nut job Bishops and Cardinals, its a wide spread issue that reaches all the way down to huge numbers of the rank and file church members. Case and point on this matter is the selection of a former Hitler Youth as Pope and the wide support he receives from all levels of the church. The argument goes that every German of his age was a Hitler youth, fair enough, but I think that should disqualify them all from holding the position of Pope. Sorry but this is the head of the church and the primary representative of the church to other religions, who lets face it, the church has not always done a good job of getting along with. I think being a member of the youth group that supported the most infamous murderer of the 20th century should knock you out of the running for that sport.

All of this said I still have my faith and I did attended Mass a few times last summer, but after my last trip I was told by a priest that because I was going to vote for Obama I needed to go to confession. After this I received a letter from a priest talking about how "its clear that America has chosen its financial life over its spiritual life by electing Obama and it won’t be long until we reap the consequences"

Apparently according to these priests the only reason I could possible vote for the man was that I wanted to support as many murders via abortions as possible. First off let me point out the total hypocrisy of the church on this matter. If voting for a candidate who supports the taking of a life is reason for me to go to confession then voting for McCain should hold the same weight, McCain supports the death penalty so if protecting all life is important then we have an issue with McCain as well. Let me also take a short moment to point out that I don't support the death penalty or abortion, though I think there is much more gray area with abortion than with the death penalty*. Soooo if I don't want to support abortions why did I vote for Obama? Well it might have to do with my strong opposition to the war in Iraq and the torture of prisoners at Gitmo. So one of my primary reasons for supporting Obama is in fact the dignity of human life. Yet apparently to the church these lives don’t count, the only ones that matter are unborn lives. The lives of innocent Iraqis and American Troops mean nothing to these people. Based on a few searches it would seem that a fair number of people put the death toll over 1 million civilians, even more modest calculations still put the number over 100,000. Granted this is small in number compared to the 1.2 million abortions a year but still not insignificant.

Turning our attention back to the reading selection from today there are just as many absurd statements being made by our wacked out friend on the right. While we can at least take some solace in the fact that he is not backed up 100% by the church we must still confront a few major points of hypocrisy. The church says that only men can be priests because a) Only men can be fathers, and that what God is to us, b) There were no female apostles (that are written about in the four mainstream Gospels, but lets not forget the many other rejected texts that place Mary Magdalena as a major player in the life and work of Jesus) c) Going back to a, Jesus was a man. Yet at the same time priests talk about how the Catholic church is not a male dominated society because, “we place such a high value and importance on the Virgin Mary”. Sigh, right that’s it. (My sarcasm is coming out now, I know but the more I write the less I want to be rational and the more pissed I get).

Anyway I’m out of things that even touch on logical and I am totally off topic but it feels good to get this off my chest.

*I do have one exception to my death penalty rule. If you lead the police on a high speed chase, instant death once they get you pulled over, no trial, not jury, just down on your knees and 9mm to the back of your head. You put the officers and everyone on the road at risk, and trust me there is no arguing, I didn’t do it, I’m innocent. You take the police on a chase over 55 miles an hour and you die, period end of discussion.

I'm guessing what he wants are "universities" with "degrees" like this one;

What chafes me the most about that degree program is, it's a B.S. Not a B.Ed. They're not even internally consistent with their insanity....

The Boston Globe has a story up. Of course, it's more he said he said (since it's all about priests) than anything incisive.
