I laughed when I read it, and didn't realize that this guy actually meant what his article says until clicking at the top of the page and reading a few of the other blog posts.

This makes more sense in the Onion.

I mean, c'mon, he mentioned Poland...

P.S. My verification word at the end of this comment: prono. Nice.

My favorite part was "Bush never gets sloppy when he is speaking publicly. He chooses his words with care and precision, which is why his style sometimes seems halting. In the eight years he has been President, it is remarkable how few gaffes or verbal blunders he has committed. If Obama doesn't raise his standards, he will exceed Bush's total before he is inaugurated."

He's probably a sociology student running an experiment to see how many people will willfully follow him if he says the most absurdly false things he can think of, but consistently toes the republican line.

The only news Barack Obama made in his first post-election press conference was when, in a classless moment, he falsely ridiculed Nancy Reagan for holding "seances" in the White House. He was then compelled to call her to apologize for what he termed his "careless remark."

TRUE.

It appears that Obama may have been careless again yesterday, with international consequences. He spoke with the President of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, on the telephone. Afterward, Kaczynski wrote that Obama "said that the missile-defense project would continue." The Obama camp then released a statement to the effect that Obama had said no such thing: "President Kaczynski raised missile defense but President-elect Obama made no commitment on it."

It's possible that President Kaczynski deliberately misquoted Obama, but that seems highly unlikely. It's much more probable that Obama indulged in his usual ambiguity, failed to choose his words carefully, and thereby conveyed a misleading impression.

TRUE.

Bush never gets sloppy when he is speaking publicly. He chooses his words with care and precision, which is why his style sometimes seems halting. In the eight years he has been President, it is remarkable how few gaffes or verbal blunders he has committed.

TRUE. Saying crusaders was the only big one.

If Obama doesn't raise his standards, he will exceed Bush's total before he is inaugurated.

TRUE. You make fun of Bush because he ah ah uh uhed a lot. So does Obama without his teleprompter. Plus he says stupid things. HE ALREADY SCREWED UP TWICE and hes not even president.

Who is the stupidest man on the internet? Who ever calls someone else stupid. If you want to call someone else stupid, dont hide. Say why hes stupid. But you can't because Obama already screwed up so all you can do is pretend it didnt happen. It's called hit and run. Cowards and stupid people hit and run. And hide.

Who cares about the "uhs" - look at a transcript of anyone talking and you'll be sure to see them if they haven't been deliberately edited out.

Thanks to the magic of the YouTubes, we have visual records of some of Bush's gaffes. Here's 5, I'm sure you can find more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzWrDqPkjK4

Here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFcJ07-yrBQ&feature=related

Some aren't really gaffes, and the voice-over makes it more annoying and distracts from what Bush is actually saying/doing. But most of these things are real gaffes. You can find more videos by just typing in George W. Bush on YouTube.

I actually am not sure how big a deal gaffes are unless they put the country in jeopardy in some way. The missile defense thing by Obama - maybe, but we don't know what he actually said. We just have an uncharitable interpretation of an ambiguous situation.

And maybe you don't think Bush's slips are that big of a deal. But it is absurd to simply assert that Bush had no gaffes without even trying to argue that the kinds of things seen above aren't a problem.

Actually, anonymous, I think you've just taken the title from Hinderaker...

It's truling amazing how detached from reality these people are. They're so blinded by their ideology and tightly-wrapped in the cocoon of conservative groupthink that they seem to think that they can push even the most obviously false claims and people will take them seriously.

Jebus what a bunch of idiots. The mind reels at such a display of stupidity.

At least I'm coming to realize that my attempts to take these people seriously were, in fact, themselves very, very stupid.
