Wow, there’s so much that’s wrong with that statement in the link that it’s hard to know where to begin. I’ll start with just two points.
First, many liberals are “real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God.” I know lots of them, and I meet four out of the five criteria myself. It says more about the speaker than about liberals that he thinks these are mutually exclusive categories.
Second, no liberal who’s read “A Letter Concerning Toleration” would hate someone for their religious beliefs. Respect for, or at least toleration of, religious beliefs is a cornerstone of liberalism. The problem comes when certain members of certain religions try to use the power of the state to impose their religious practices on the rest of us. Then it becomes a political question and people are free to vigorously oppose such measures.
Ok, I already said goodbye to your site but your 100% right, Winston Smith. Our country doesn't need this crap. Worse than Keith Olberman because he's only on cable TV and this guy is in the government. And then he says he didn't mean it but he did. Crap. Crap Crap. Crap. I woundn't even vote for him because he's crap and I'm a republican. George Wallace- you're right about that on this one. Goodbye for now.
Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) conceded that he did tell a crowd that "liberals hate real Americans," but says he didn't mean it that way.

Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) has conceded that he did tell a North Carolina crowd that "liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God," even though he initially denied making such a statement.
Now he says he didn’t mean it that way and he was just trying to rev up a campaign rally.
I'm with you both R and A.
I think the impulse to demonize our political opponents is one of the most destructive in American politics.
I'm way over Olbermann, A. But you must admit, Olbermann is Socrates compared to Rush Limbaugh.
