The two oldest professions do tend to show up first with just about every technology.
I would note that military robots are already here; sexbots have a slightly higher bar of human-likeness to pass.
In the meantime, the sex doll has been around since _Airplane_ came out.

Well, as much as some people try to deny it, human beings are (in general) a very sexual species. Hell, Human/Machine sex is nothing new. (Warning, link is not work safe.)
I don't agree with the article's prediction of human-robot marriages, though. And I really dislike the way it connects it to same-sex marriages. Mainly, because there is a much greater need for legal rights between same-sex couples than human-robot ones. Does a robot need to share your health benefits? Can in make medical decisions for you if you are in a coma? Could it care for your children if you were killed?
Maybe it's just because I've seen so many same-sex couples go through hell because they could not get legally married, but I tend to get annoyed when someone treats same-sex marriage and human-inanimate object/animal/plant marriage as the same thing. There is a reason why same-sex couples are fighting for legal marriages, but articles like that don't seem to understand those reasons.
Of course, the article fails to differentiate between religious/spiritual marriages and legal ones. It also doesn't address whether the robots mentioned are equipted with AI, which could change the arguments completely.
(Since I managed to work in a Sexy Losers link, I've been trying to think of a way to link to a Saturnalia comic as well, since it not only deals with AIs, but also features a robot prostitute, and, as such, seems appropriate to this topic. Alas, I can't seem to find a suave way to do so. If you enjoy comics, though, these are two that I'd highly recommend.)
I'm really mystified why there's no adult Wii on the market.
Excellent comix, Piasharn...
