This is insane.

I don't know if I am more disgusted with the fact that this is happening or the fact that I'm not surprised by it. I am still looking for someone to give me one good reason why I should care about the sexual orientation of another person. How does someone else being gay hurt me? How does them being married hurt me? What we have here is a bunch of nut jobs who are so afraid that they might be homosexual that they attack anyone who looks like they "might be gay". Crazy, just crazy.

I had to stop reading at the top of the third page. Absolutely appalling. Love that one of those bigots got invited to the White House prayer breakfast by our current president.

Almost immediately after, I read this: http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSHO08259520071010

WTF is wrong with people? Why all the hate? Humanity really disgusts me sometimes.

Yeah, it's pretty disgusting. I remember reading about that incident over at BoX Turtle Bulletin. Gotta love how some of these people also believe that the Nazis and WWII were all a product of a vast, gay conspiracy.

"How does someone else being gay hurt me? How does them being married hurt me?"

Didintja know? We queers are out to corrupt your morals, convert you to our perverted lifestyle, destroy Christianity, and then bring about the downfall of society! It's all part of the Homosexual Agenda!

At least I think it is... my copy seems to have gotten lost in the mail, so I'm not sure.

It's common for people to say that such people are themselves just deeply-closeted homosexuals.

I used to think that this was just a kind of wickedly effective way to infuriate them. But over the years I've come to think that there's actually truth in it.

Something like: contact with gay men provokes deeply-repressed homosexual feelings in these men--feelings that are radically at odds with their commitments and self-concepts. Infuriated by these urges, they feel a strong inclination to try to physically destroy the cause of the offending urges. The external cause, that is--not the internal cause, i.e. their own rather ambiguous sexuality.

This isn't an insult in my book, as I'm completely indifferent to who people sleep with. But it does explain a lot...

Yeah, I think you're on to something there, WS. The reaction is just too disproportionate without some pathology involved.
