Danger Time For Democrats

So...after having the election of 2000 semi-stolen, having been lied into a disastrous war, having been called stupid, unpatriotic, and a terrorist sympathizer for opposing said war, having watched the gains of the war in essence evaporate in a cloud if ideological dogmatism and incompetence, and now facing a constant barrage of propaganda to the effect that everything's going just fine, in addition to having to endure innumerable other administration lies and misdeeds...how pissed off would you say you are?

(a) Not pissed off
(b) Ya know, kinda pissed off
(c) Pissed off
(d) Extremely pissed off
(e) Beside self with pissed-offedness

Please to answer before proceeding.

Now, when you are pissed to the degree to which you are currently pissed, which of the following is true:

(a) It doesn't effect my reasoning/judgment at all
(b) It effects my reasoning/judgment a little bit
(c) It effects my reasoning/judgment a notable amount
(d) It effect my reasoning/judgment a lot
(e) I become almost Bush-like in my numbskullery

My score:

(e)

(e)

Hence my concern.

I wouldn't go that far. Certainly being unimaginably pissed off at Bush will affect which premises you readily accept (judgment), but I don't think it will affect your reasoning capabilities.

So, in order to address your concern, you should just make absolutely sure that your premises, or what news information you readily absorb really is undeniably verifiably true, and from that point forward, I think you'll be ok.

I would also be e, e, but that said it only seems to effect my judgment on political matters, my reasoning abilities still work. That said I still do have big concern now that you have brought this up. Not that I think the Republicans will come up with a good candidate for 08 but the fact of the matter is that I have already ruled out the possibility, thus I have become one of those hacks who just votes Democrat because well thats all they do. I suppose I need to take a step back and evaluate just what is going on.

Unfortunately while there are some people who are going to recognize that they are acting like this (or like in my case have it pointed out to them by someone smarter than them) the large masses will not. This started to worry me because I thought that it would mean no matter what we get a Democrat even if they suck total ass, but then I started to think about it and I got even more scared. I typed out the following statement, "There is no way we get a Republican, no matter how good they might be, unless the Democrats do something stupid and nominate Hillary or Obama."

Now you can argue the merit of the above statement but I think it is fairly true. Hillary is unelectable because she is a woman and she is tied to Bill, those two things just evoke to much emotion. Obama can not will in the South. Sad as this might be this country still have vastly to many people who will not vote for him simply because he is black. The fact that the above statements are probably true scares me even more than the fact that on occasion I might act like Bush in my decision making process.

Good Going Bush and co, you just might have found a way to destroy one of the longest lasting and strongest "Democracy's" in the world. I wonder if the Romans knew what was about to happen as their empire fell apart, did they know it was happening? Do we?

I've heard that self-criticism is the beginning of wisdom.

You missed a category for your first question.

(f) Have been pissed off for so long about so much that I have completely burned out and am now burying my head in the sand and taking anti-depressants to keep my head from exploding.

However, I don't think my judgment is affected, because I still recognize that if the Dems nominate Hillary Clinton they'll have handed the presidency to the GOP on a silver platter.

And I kinda like her.

Of course that just serves to remind me that it'll be all over by the time OUR primary comes around, so I really have no say in the national nomination of our presidential candidates...

See what you've done? Now I have to go look at pictures of kittens and puppies until my blood pressure goes back down.

I self-assess at (e) Beside self with pissed-offedness and (b) It affects my reasoning/judgment a little bit, but my anger may color my response. One thing that might (or might not) suggest (b) is an accurate assessment of my derangement is that I am increasingly alienated from politics in general and dissatisfied with the Washington Democrats, despite being a lifelong Democrat myself and having long been a party regular. So it's not as if I'm reckoning the Democrats to be halo-wearing demigods the way wingnuts wax rapturous about Duhbya.

Heh heh.

Good one, Michelle--I neglected (f).

I've moved in that direction myself at some points.

Sorry about the blood-pressure thing.
