Ann Coulter, Great American
Duncan Hunter: Stupid Asshole

These people seem to be getting crazier and crazier.

You know, before a week (two weeks maybe?) ago, the only thing I knew about Ann Coulter was that she was a right-wing political commentator because I read it on this blog. I never heard her, nor did I ever even attempt to read anything she's written or listen to anything she's said.

However, I saw her on the Hardball episode when Mrs. Edwards called in. With that experience, I can confirm that she is nearly the exact same thing as Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage, etc. They are all extremely angry, unhappy people who think their anger is justifiable as philosophy, and as such, they spew their ignorance onto whoever will listen. It's pure insanity.

If you've never heard Michael Savage - I think he and Ann Coulter would get along really well. They're both grade-A psychopaths.

What really bothers me, though, is how much influence they have and how many people think they're intelligent people who make good points. All they do is say the same nonsensical thing over and over, severely ridiculing anyone who disagrees, and thereby gaining support from those who agree with the ridicule and then transfer that support to the actual point of view. My girlfriend's dad does that with Rush Limbaugh. If you ever talk to a fan of one of these people, their support for their viewpoints will either be extremely illogical or, more commonly, be a red herring insult-parade against liberals.

Case in point: This guy in the article you've linked to is saying the same thing Coulter said on Hardball - that the liberals (Mrs. Edwards in particular) are trying to "silence" the conservative voice. Even Matthews corrected Coulter on his show by telling her that no, she's not trying to silence Ann, she's just asking her to stop being so cruel and insulting. But nevertheless, all Ann would do is say something sarcastic about how she'll just stop writing books and speaking, then. Now, here's another republican saying the exact same thing. It didn't make sense once, but maybe it'll start to make sense the more it's claimed to be true.

Sadly, it probably will.

So many people are going to come into this without knowing or caring what happened on Hardball that they're going to just jump on the "Liberals are trying to stifle the free speech of republicans!" bandwagon. This is how this crap gets started.
