One small change I would make in Adler's riff: "centrist" for centrist. There's nothing wrong with being a centrist, just with being an apologist for the right in centrist's clothing.
Every day, Friedman and many of his friends in elite journalism make false equivalences between the left and the right. This plays out nicely in the Time-Newsweek style of on-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hand-smug-shrug.
Adler on the other hand is interested in facts and how they might change someone's mind - if that is still possible.
