Democracy Sucks
It suddenly hit me last night, like--as they say--a ton of bricks.
We've all admired the (alleged?) Churchill quote "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those others that have been tried"...but the truth of it finally soaked in through my thick noggin:
Democracy sucks.
Sure, sure, it's the best form of government we know of...but that's not the point. The point is that it's still an absurdly bad way to run a country.
Consider our current predicament. The president is demostrably unqualified for the job. This was evident before he was (almost) elected the first time, and painfully obvious before he was (God help us) elected the second time. He is a man who got into Yale because of his family connections and drank and slouched his way through. He dodged the draft and couldn't even fulfill his service in the National Guard. After that, he ran a series of businesses into the ground, each time being bailed out by the ultra-rich, who wanted to curry favor with his father, the president. He was an alcoholic most of his adult life, and then adopted a laughably primitive version of Christianity. Then he was governor of a state in which the governor has little power.
And then we elected him president of the world's only superpower.
We elected a man with, in essence, NO qualifications. He is probably not the least qualified person in the country, but it's a close call.
We (almost) elected him over Al Gore, an extremely competent and intelligent statesman who would have made a damn fine president. We elected him over John McCain, a war hero of unquestionable character. We elected him over John Kerry, another war hero, and a man who would--if nothing else--been just fine.
We've got more smart, competent people in this country that we know what to do with... And in the midst of this intellectual and moral plenty, we elect a man who is utterly incompetent and intellectually bankrupt. Hell, the guy isn't even diligent. If you're not smart, you should at least be diligent.
So this is what democracy does. It allows the uninformed and incompetent to elect their own as president. Not always, of course--but sometimes is bad enough to screw everything up. God bless it, it blows the doors off of anything else we can think of, and one can't help but get a little misty about it when one compares it to, say, theocracy or absolute monarchy...but it's a goddamned stupid way to run a country. I get that now.

The reason Democracy is better than monarchy:
With monarchy, we’d get Bush for the entirety of his lifespan. With democracy, we A) almost didn’t get him, and B) only get him for 8 years. The question is: how do we keep from getting Jeb...
IMO the media mis-informers bear a large share of the responsibility for our current sad situation. Garbage in, garbage out.
@Andrew Cory:
Wonder why it comes down to Monarchy when people come to think of the bad things of Democracy. We have (theoretically) better forms of governance than any of Democracy and Monarchy! A good starting point would be a reading of "Anarchy, State and Utopia".
Here is the truth about Democracy
Short and simple
Democracy is nothing more then a illusion to make the people think they are in control .
But in Truth It is The government that is in control.
Reason:
Ask your self two simple questions,
1 Who is it that decides what you will and will not vote on?
2.Who is it that decides just how
just how that vote will be worded?
True democracy means (we are in control) we can put up to vote any dam thing we want and word it anyway we want. Until we obtain that then there is no democracy and never will be.
YOU CAN'T CHANGE A SYSTEM USING THE SYSTEM AND RULES OF THOSE ALREADY EXPLOITING THE SYSTEM AND BENDING THE RULES. YOU HAVE TO STOP GIVING THEM THE POWER BY NOT RECOGNIZING THEM AS HAVING AUTHORITY. BECAUSE IN REALITY THEY DON'T HAVE IT. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE CAN TELL PEOPLE TO KEEP YOU IN ONE GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME OR EXERT FORCE ON YOUR BODY DOESN'T MAKE THEM RIGHT.
What you all don't seem to understand and maybe you should, is that democracy or any form of government is not government. It's total domination. We have freedom? No. We don't. We have been fed that we need to pay for everything in this life. That's all BS. Those people who become leaders in business or politics are part of a tribe of some sort and their ancestors have been feeding this shit to people for thousands of years. We live in fuedalistic systems and always have as far as known history "allows" us to know. We've been taught to believe that history is real (as in what we're taught is true, how the fuck do we know? Just blindly accept it? Why?) and necessary to know. Not true. No reason for it, except to show what these "leaders" (actually just cheats and grasping fucks who don't give one shit about having a lot of money, they just want us (whoever we really are) to be without it) want us to believe so that it's easier to perpetuate this crap… For instance that Churchill gave a shit about anything other than digging us deeper into things. Voting is pure shit. How do we know if the vote is real? I mean there were apparently votes in the Soviet Union too. And I used to live there. I know what it was like. It was much freer than in the USA. The only thing is that people equate "economy" with freedom. You can't have freedom with people living in rundown housing. So the shinier the better. Freedom doesn't exist in a governed state on this earth. Freedom is an arbitrary term, and yes there will be those of you who can think a little deeper and say yes, yes. But keep thinking deeper. Don't stop at what you learned to comprehend. Go to where you have to challenge your comprehension, challenge all of the concepts that we've been taught to think are incomprehensible.
Anyway, stop voting. Stop participating in the system. Stop paying taxes. Watch shit start to happen. The governments of the world would have to begin doing more shit to scare people. Don't be scared. That's why this has worked for so long. People believe that fear is "healthy". Nothing is healthy. That's made up concept. We're imprisoned in bodies. Let go. First let your minds go. Go. Then armegeddon (which is really just a total wisening up of dominated people who've been taught since birth to want a bunch of colored paper and brightly colored plastic and shiny metal) will come and these leaders will say bye-bye. And if you think I'm just crazy. Think again. I'm out there. I'm a working man like anyone else. Not a nut or John the baptist type. I don't walk around Wall Street trying to convert people. I look around and see patterns. Every single entity has been designed to cheat us. Credit Card companies (which is one place I've worked), Financial companies (another place I've worked), Public and private utilities (yes, worked their too – all fucking cheaters, I finally got out), politicians and political systems, schools and universities (teaching us that they have knowledge that we need for some reason), charities, taxation systems, and more. Doesn't that just get under your skin a little? It should. You should want to have freedom from that. Consider that this year the utiltiy company in my area raised rates 40% because of the "economy"...well that's because they have higher over head like the rest of us right? Wrong. They lay people off anyway. AND they had their biggest NET year EVER! Meanwhile people out here are stuck paying something that they have no say in. And never will have a say in, and never have had a say in. Just try notifying your utility company that you want to raise your rate (ie, get more heat for less money – ie, less of the hours or years of your LIFE), think they'd say "duh…okay…dat sounds like a good idea"? Think they'd ask you to come in for a chat? No. They'd say fuck you. Unless you fell under one of these fucking things that gets money from the gov't. And if you think that revolution would change something think again. All Revolutions have been huge stage productions to make people think that they have power and that it all wells up until someone decides to do something, then things change. Wake up! That's a total lie. We've been taught to see this as having happened but we don't actually know what's happened. It's a huge morality play filled with cautionary acts and characters. Look at it and disobey it.
The larger issue here is not Democracy but Voting that perpetuates the shallowness of Democracy by giving the illusion that we are partners in decisions that affect our lives. That is a delusion. Democracy is an abject failure in achieving anything approaching that concept. Voting today or ever, never made life any better, it only got worse. History bears out my premise!
Guy with the long ass posts, shut up.
There is only one good form of government--mine. The one where I control everything that happens.
