What Counts as "Outing"?

Um, apparently Rove didn't use Plame's name, he just referred to her as "Wilson's wife" or something like that. I sincerely hope that no one will try to claim that Rove can avoid the relevant charges on those grounds. There is no reason to think that the use of a proper name is necessary for a crime of this kind to be committed. If you are a spy and I reveal your identity by pointing at you and saying "he's a spy!," I cannot defend my actions on the grounds that I didn't use your name. You'd have to be a real sleazeball to use a defense like that, and I trust...um, make that hope...that no one will do so.
