In addition to all his other admirable achievements, he is also, admirably, a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.
It's true! He campaigned for integration in NC, and for a nuclear freeze. He's a helluva guy by all accounts. If not for him, Carolina would likely be just another big basektball school, using its players as bipedal advertising gimmicks.
