Insane Greeks Threaten to Imprison Cartoonist for "Blasphemy"

Yup, now it's official. The Greeks are nuts. I've been there twice now, and I rather suspected that several of those folks weren't quite right. And this proves it. Laws against blasphemy have got to rank up there with laws against same-sex marriage in the pantheon of all-time retarded legislation. Hell, I'm thinking of writing something "blasphemous" (n.b. "scare" quotes to indicate that this is not a legitimate category) just so I can publish it in Greece and piss them off.

The arrest warrant is from the EU, which is closer to your political vision than say, mine. ;)

I would like to clear this up, since I'm in a setting-the-record-straight mood.

Ironically, Jesus Himself (please allow me the capital "H") would not have been upset about being mocked like this. In Matthew 16 He says,

"And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come..."

The Son of Man is Jesus. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing the works of God to the Devil, or some say, to man.

The reason for the EU arrest order is purely political, making a test case of Jesus.

But the real worry is that Islam dictates that blaspheming the Prophet Mohammed carries a death sentence, ala Salman Rushdie. Uh-oh.

The EU is trying to set a precedent, because the Muslim Population Bomb is ticking...

i agree that the laws in greece are terrible. mind you the gun laws have now been tightened after a one year old scottish boy was shot while on holiday and his mother protested and went through courts for about a year to get the laws changed.
