Dominic Green: "Presentism" [i.e. Lysenkoism] andThe Unmaking of History by the Woke Mob
"Presentism" is a euphemism for Lysenkoism, i.e. political correctness.
You can understand this entire dispute by understanding one of the purest cases of progressive-left history: the so-called 1619 Project. The "project" is bad history that is not mere error--it's lies. The architects of the "project" have openly admitted that it was never intended to accurately represent history; instead, its purpose is to persuade people to pay reparations for slavery. So, to be clear: it aims to persuade people to support leftist political initiatives (aka "social justice")...by lying to them about history.
This is the core of progressive leftism every human endeavor must be subordinated to progressive leftist politics. Facts that do not support this end must be misrepresented--they are, basically, from the perspective of the left, not facts at all.
This idea--that political correctness is the kind of correctness that matters, trumping considerations of truth and rational inquiry--has gotten itself lodged deep in the heart of academia over the past 50ish years. Sometimes this idea is explicit, sometimes implicit. The former is less dangerous, IMO.
