The next step I'd like to see: nuking colleges/schools/departments of education.
They are among the most ideologically captured parts of universities, and contribute greatly to locking in educational mediocrity.
I was an education major briefly as an undergrad--I didn't know any better...I'd never even heard of graduate school (I was the first person in my family to go to college). I kinda thought maybe I'd like to teach...so...ed major. Fortunately, a good friend of mine was ahead of me on that trajectory, and waved me off. He'd been a polisci major (as I was at the time), and told me, with great sincerity, that his ed courses were the dumbest courses he'd ever had--a complete waste of time. He reported that he was largely being trained to run the overhead projector and decorate bulletin boards. I dropped the major before ever having a class.
IMO teachers should be trained in a subject--and get maybe a little bit of instruction on how to teach.
VA tried this for awhile, but universities just circumvented the policies until the Dems got back on office and nuked it.
